How many hours a week can a 17 year old work over the summer+ a few other job app questions?
-
im filling out some job applications to earn some money since i have a car now, i have to get some gas money and some for college too but im having the hardest time to find out how many hours to work, i wanna fill out the most hours i can legally work a week over the summer and i wont be 18 till november, since this is my first job i wanna show them that im comitted to the job. Ok 2nd question, i have 2 job refrences soo far, but there is 3 boxes, is it ok to have only 2 because i know those 2 people are VER SOLID and awesome refrences, but if it will help me i will find a 3rd. Would i need a resume for a this job, its only part time job at a store in the mall. And lastly, would $8.25, be an ok wage to put down since this is my first job, thank you, i would love to get these filled out and turned in ASAP

Answer:
unless it has changed since when i was 17, there is no limit. don't see how there could be. find a third. have never had them call one. it is a toss up on whether to put anything for pay. you have not said what the jobs are. so cant really say about pay.

If you had provided the state you reside then I would have goggled i.e. Texas State Minor Labor Laws etc. on the internet which provides number of hours allowed during the summer and when school is in session which you can do. If a prospective employer asks for 3 then you need to find one more solid and reliable reference. You can ask i.e. pastor/minister, priest or rabbi or member of the church congregation if you attend, did you belong to any sports leagues or clubs in school where you can ask the instructor, anyone you performed a service for i.e. mowed the lawn, cleaned out the garage, a mature friend of your family, a neighbor who has known you for at least 2-3 years, a favorite teacher, a friend's mom or dad or a in-law who does not have the same last name etc. You would not need a resume for this part time job at the mall. If you want to be on the safe side I would say open or negotiable. In the event they force you to put in a number on the application I find Salary.com (a website) useful in those situations (for jobs in the USA), since you can enter the job title and your zip code and it will return a salary distribution curve. Specifying a salary near the mean for your area is a safe bet in most cases (go low if you have little experience, go high if you have a lot of experience or special skills. OR goggle the minimum wage in your state and then add 10% more. Good Luck! I hate that question. You feel always feel if you put too high you won't get a call back and if you put to low you feel you got suckered once you find out how much everyone else makes.
