How do I go about becoming a Buddhist?

How to go about becoming a pharmacist?

  • I am about to enroll into a community college and I'm wondering if entering a pharmacy tech program will help, as the college said it Will but they were using words like: "feel" "meet pharmacist" "hands on." They made it sound like the aim was solely to become a tech. But I don't, my original plan was to Get pre pharmacy classes out of the way (will becoming a pham tech do this) in the first two years and transfer to university then enter pharmacy school and then go into specialty. Would becoming a tech slow the process down or help? The college name is Everest btw. I'm in Chicago

  • Answer:

If you want to get your PharmD. degree, you have no business being associated with for-profit tech schools like Everest. Being a Pharm Tech will not help you get to your pharmacy career in any way. Just like a nurse can never 'work their way up' into being a doctor, a pharm tech can never work their way up into being a Pharm.D In order to be a pharmacist, you can start off in community college for a year and take classes that any biology or chemistry major will take. Then, transfer to a university where you can transfer all your credits to their pre-Pharm program. Then, your senior year of college, take the PCAT test and apply to pharmacy school. Then, you go to 4 years of pharmacy school. Pharmacists have to take all the advance chemistry, calculus, and biology classes that a Pharm tech will never know even existed. I'd suggest that you look into small, regional campuses of major universities instead of a separate tech school so that you are sure that your credits will transfer. This will offer tuition savings and less hassle.

Ring O Roses nailed this. In no way should you go to Everest. The credits don't transfer and you will be starting all over again to try & become a pharmacist, and thousands and thousands in debt.

Nope being a pharm tech will not Help. Its just vocational/technical training that someone does to assist a pharmacist and perform remedial tasks in a pharmacy. Its good to do that I guess to apply for pharmacy school, but in no way does that count for actual credits in terms of pre requisites for pharmacy school or any school for that matter. I don't know what Everest is but I have a feeling thats a pay to play school that Will not help you. I took a 600$ pharm tech course and I regreted it. You don't even need school to become a pharm tech, I know CVS actually pays for you to take a pharmacy tech certification exam. To be a pharm tech you don't even need any qualifications. You just apply and if they like you and your hard working ethics they'll hire you. If you took a 10 grand pharm tech course and you aren't hard working, don't even try to get a job. Because hard work takes precedences over any fancy pieces of paper in pharmacy tech. Pharm tech is a really easy low class job don't stress it. Just apply and enjoy working and spraining your knees.
