How much would a gaming PC cost?

How much money would it cost to build a decent gaming PC?

  • I have had both xbox and playstation before and now I think I am turning into a PC gamer, i've had a Laptop for a while which isn't actually that bad without saying its amazing... Anyway how much do you think it would cost me to build a decent/moderate gaming PC? which maybe I could improve overtime. Would i be able to build (get my friend to build a gaming pc) for £400? or is that to little? I just want a gaming pc I could play Skyrim and most other games on medium settings or maybe a little better :) thanks

    Well for me I have brought a lenovo which came with a decent quad i5 processor and 8gb of ram at around £399. After I added on a 6570 (£55) which can acheive good framerates a 720p for modern games and looks far better than console graphics. battlefield 3 was noticably better on this pc than my other ps3 copy just from the rough textures and improved frame rate on this set up. Although if you were to build your own you might be able to squeaze around the £400 margin with a slightly better graphics card.

£400 might be too little. That said, Skyrim and related games have relatively low requirements. I myself have a £1200 Alienware Laptop that I use for games, but my friend build a desktop himself for about £700 which is a little bit better. I can't recommend parts, but I do recommend shopping around. Desktops, from what I've seen are easier to modify though, because Laptops are sometimes too small for premium parts. Though, PC gaming is an incredibly expensive habit, so you best be serious about doing it. Luckily, lots of games play beautifully on a well kept PC, better than consoles in most cases. Not sure what my point was here, but good luck.
