What do I do if my xbox 360 will not read a disk?

Brand new xbox 360 slim violent disk reads and doesn't eventually read disk?

• Bought a brand new xbox 360 slim for the kids, and USED game disks because I didn't have much money left. 2 disks, neither worked. Returned them to game stop and got two other used game disks. Now whenever I insert a disk into the xbox, it reads them violently (loud smashing around noise) and eventually finishes without detecting a disk. It does the same with regular video DVD's, but eventually reads them. What's the problem? Has my xbox broken after the very first day?

  sounds like your dvd drive may need to be replaced. this happened to one of my xbox 360 slims and the only way to fix it was to replace the DVD drive. I tried to re-calibrate the laser and even replaced the laser but neither worked. something broke on the controller board on the dvd drive, the only way to fix that is to replace the whole drive. unfortunately SLIM dvd drives aren't as cheap to replace as the PHAT consoles I could replace your DVD drive and flash it with the original keys from $90 contact me if you're interested
