Legal to upload videos to YouTube?
-
I HAVE ALREADY READ THE TERMS OF AGREEMENT AND THE COPYRIGHT INFO - DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS NEEDED FOR ORIGINAL WORK THOUGH. It's to do with nail polish paining and designs, just something fun to do! I was wondering If I have any laws to abide to even if it is all my own original stuff etc.. Like, will I have to do something/ get something before I'm allowed to use a nail polish product eg, MAC nail polish and name it on the channel? Also, I have an intention of using audio, but I think YouTube gives a selection of music that I can use, do I have to say something in the description box saying I don't own it? I want to use slides of information on the video instead of speaking, do I need to do anything with that? :( If you have anything of help, or anything else you think I need to know, then it would be appreciated! Thanks!

Answer:
Any content that you create entirely on your own is yours. It's copyrighted, but you own the copyright, so that's not a problem. However, if you use someone else's content—like background music—you need a license for that. If you use YouTube's AudioSwap to add music, the music is licensed for playback with the video, but it is not licensed for monetizing, so you can't make money with the video any more. And AudioSwap replaces all the sound on the video, including your audio narration if you've added any. Using slides for your narration is fine, as long as you wrote the narration on the slides yourself (no copying and pasting from any other sources). Showing products in the video is fine. It's perfectly acceptable to show the brand of the product you are using in your tutorials, as that's an important part of the tutorial. The only time you'd have to worry about this is if you gave the impression that you were officially sponsored by the brand or something similar, in which case you'd have to get permission from the company that makes the brand. But just showing it as you instruct viewers is fine. I suggest you skip the music. Music is often a distraction, and you have to worry about licensing and copyrights. You might also want to give audio narration yourself, rather than put the narration on slides, but that's an aesthetic choice that's entirely up to you.

So long as you're using your own original video and photos, and don't take credit for creating the nail polish or anything like that, you should be fine. There are videos all over youtube of people showing off products they've purchased, how to use them, hell, even how to hack most of them. Even if you do break a rule, the worst thing that will happen is that youtube will simply take down the video.

If it's your original work, then there should be no problem with uploading it on Youtube. If you are displaying commercial products in this video, it will probably fall under "fair use" which is the legal right to use copyrighted or registered material in a limited amount. As for music, if it is copyrighted music, it may or may not be allowed, or it may abuse "fair use" however, if you credit the music, Youtube and/or the copyright holders may be more lenient on you. Worst case scenario, Youtube will take the video down at a copyright holder's request, but I don't think you will run into any problems. Don't worry about it and go ahead and upload it.

No , you don't need anything like that but might want to add that it's not you product at the end it will be rejected or removed if there's any infringement it can only be 10 min. Though and it takes a little while before it goes up.i put the same vid up three times the first time thinking it didn't work, so just give it a hour ,maybe more ,maybe less.
