Why do I always feel tired during track season?
-
I know there will probably be a lot of details, but I want to solve this, so please read all information. Just some quick info about me: I'm 16, male, about 150 pounds, and I'm a sophmore. I ran 5 marathons (started during 8th grade and ended last fall. I won't be doing any more marathons until I'm out of college). I do cross country during the fall and track during the spring. During this winter off season, I experienced a pain in both sides of my left knee (the pain was around the side of my kneecap), which has gone away, but now I feel pain in the shin area of my left leg. I'm also pretty busy with school work (2 AP classes, all advanced classes except lunch and study hall), which results in me having to stay up until 11-12 in the morning, sometime 1 am if I have a lot of homework/studying. I have to get up at about 6 am so that I can get ready for school at 7:30. O.k, so I'm currently in track and I run the mile and two mile. My fastest mile time this year is 6:03 min (5:45 min. last year was my p.r.) and my two mile time is 12:59 min (12:45 min. last year). I know those are horrible times, so I don't need any confirmation from you guys about that. My problem is, I always feel tired, like I have no energy. After running intervals or after running a meet, I can't feel my legs or lower body. They just feel numb. I also feel light headed and can't think straight. This has also happened during the second half of last year's track season. Last year, my times were getting worse (the last meet I had last year, my two mile time was worse than my two mile time from the beginning of that year's season). I don't think it's because I peaked too early. For one, my times for the mile and two mile are horrible. Second, I so far only had about a month of practice, so it seems too early. I eat a semi-healthy diet (I could be eating healthier, still have easter candy that I'm still trying to get rid of). I mean, even right now, my body feels sore, tense, and tired, but my brain and eyes aren't. It's weird. My next meet is on Tuesday and I want to try to beat my fastest times this year. My next track practice is on Monday. Please give me suggestions on what I should do so I can improve my running skills. What do you think could be the cause of my $hitty times? Also, how do I physically give it my all in both events? Before I got this tired feeling, it seemed like I could have ran some more. Thank you If there's any more information you guys need, I'll gladly post it in the extra content section. I just want to solve this predicament ASAP
