How many piercings can you have healing at once?

Healing of industrial or scaffold piercings?

  • I'm considering getting an industrial piercing in my ear, the one which is one bar through 2 holes around the top of the ear. I was wondering if removing the bar after a number of years will result in 2 permanent holes in the cartilage, or if the holes will heal up once the bar has been removed. I appreciate healing times can differ hugely, but if these holes do heal up do you have any idea on how long it may take? I'm asking just in case I don't want them in a few years. Cheers!

  • Answer:

You'll always have the holes in the cartilage, but the skin should heal over that, and it shouldn't be noticeable. I think that cartilage piercings are less noticeable with the jewellery out than lobes - I have all up the left side of my ear done, and a industrial on the right, and when I take them all out, the top are nearly gone in seconds (though I can always get the jewellery back in). It's good that you're thinking ahead before getting pierced, too. :) Either way on what you choose - good luck and enjoy your potential new piercing. :)

All of the piercings I have had in cartilage that are now closed up aren't noticeable. If you feel it, you can feel where it has been pierced and there is a hole through the cartilage but you can't really see it. How long it takes for them to close would really just depend on your body...they might close, they might not. If they do, they might take awhile, it might go really fast. Everyone is different.

If you leave it a few years it is more likely they wont close at all but it depends on the person if you have it less than a year it will probably close :)

If you remove the bar, they will eventually close up, time differs depending on how long you've had them.
