How to calculate GPA in middle school?
-
My son's grades are 92.6-A, 90.9-A, 84-B, 78.1-C, 98.1-A, 200-A, 75.7-C, I want to calculate his GPA. I know it should be in his report card but I want to learn how to do it. Thanks! :)

Answer:
Add up the grades. Divide the sum of the grades by the number of grades (in your case that would be 7. [BTW was his next to last grade really 200?]

The most common breakdown of GPA is as such: A = 4.0 B = 3.0 C = 2.0 D = 1.0 Honors and AP courses are usually weighted so that an additional point is added to those grades, so most students have both a weighted and unweighted GPA. So your son's GPA values are 4.0, 4.0, 3.0, 2.0, 4.0, 4.0, and 2.0; add them up to get a cumulative of 23, divide by 7, and get an average of 3.28. Do note that each school has different ways of adding up GPA. Almost none use P.E. or other athletics courses, and many will not use non-academic classes (ex. art classes).
