Is Datem Vegan Friendly?

• Okay, so when I first became a Vegan I looked up pretty much every ingredient that I wasn't sure on. The website I found had said that Datem was not vegan friendly, therefore for the last two and a half years I avoided it. But, now, I decided to look it up again (It would make finding bread so much easier and cheaper) and found some mixed answers: that it isn't vegan, that it is vegan, and that it can come from either plants or animals. So, now I am so confused. Help me out here please. Is Datem a vegan friendly ingredient? Thanks in advance, and sorry if my post is a bit confusing.

  I would generally avoid it as the product it is in is probably not all that good or good for you. Datem is related to Mono and Digylcerides and those can be animal free but it is hard to be sure. Generally if you have to know chemistry and have scientific knowledge to eat something you probably shouldn't eat it. Generally try and stick to food ingredients that you know and can tell what they are. All of these labels that read like they were written in a lab are using a lot of that stuff to make a cheaper product that won't go bad for an extremely long time.
