Can I be a probation officer with a deferred felony?

I am on probation for two felony drug charges an just picked up another charge. How could I keep from prison?

  • I live in Texas . I have two felony drug charges and got five years deferred probation. Well I just caught another charge a week ago. Please no judging me , trust me I know I scrwed up :( . Now I got out yesterday because I hired one of the best lawyers in fort worth and I'm scared shitless . My probation officer is already aware I caught another charge but has not revoked my probation yet. Of course I'm sure he will within the next few weeks. But my question is since I did hire a top attorney is their any way I could get into maybe a treatment faculty verses going to prison ? I know I should ask my attorney all this but I dont meet w him for a few days and I'm just so sick to my stomach with anxiety . Is their anyone that has encountered this kinda thing before and if so do u have any idea of how much time I'm looking at or if rehabs an option. To my knowledge I was told if the price is right u can get out of anything or it least get out of a lengthy prison term. Please some one help me . I'm really terrified and am ready to change its just hard since I'm pretty much stuck In limbo and have no idea what's gonna happen . Thanks a lot :( :)

  • Answer:

Probation WILL be revoked and you WILL go to jail. The good thing is that from jail you won't be a getting another charge for awhile.

You can say no judging you with a straight face? Obviously, you aren't THAT scared, or you would not keep doing the things that get you arrested What I want to know is, where do dopers come up with all the money to support a habit, and then pay a high-powered lawyer? I quit smoking cigarettes six years ago because I could not afford it any longer. All I can figure is that you must be conducting some type of illegal life, like selling drugs or stealing everything that isn't nailed down or red hot.

the real question is, Why should they go easy on you? You keep messing up so clearly you either don't care or you need help and personally i think its both. The only reason your worried is because your facing prison time now, not that you feel bad. You did not care before that and you will not care after that you will just continue messing up until you change something in your life by getting help or ending up dead. You did not say how serious your third charge is but with your history its likely you will end up in jail. but since your on probation for those other felony drug charges you will most likely end up in prison once you get your probation revoked.

Right now, you need to prepare yourself for the reality that you will be going to jail. There's just no getting around that. Judges generally reserve the leniency of treatment programs and rehab for those who appear willing to get clean and sober. You my dear do not. You could hire Mark Geragos, hell you could hire a necromancer to summon Johnnie Cochran from the dead and you'd STILL be going to jail. Jail is for people like you. This is not me passing judgement, this is me stating a fact. Who do you think jails and prisons are built for, people who WANT to be there? People don't just NOT go to jail because they don't want to or are scared to go. And you must not be too scared if you KEEP getting caught with (or purchasing) drugs. I'm not even going to sit here and chide you or say you should be punished for being a user, I'm doing it because you got caught. How stupid are you? You may be in limbo right now but soon you'll be in jail.

Funny how you people never seem to consider consequences until you are looking at jail. I doubt you can avoid prison. Perhaps you will learn something from it.

As stated you will see jail time. Rehab may have been available if you could have managed to keep yourself clean instead of being a fool but since you could not then you should get set for jail.

It depends a great deal on what your new charge is. If it's a misdemeanor, you might be able to do some jail time in the county jail, get tougher terms of probation, and stay out of prison. Maybe. If you caught another felony, Gatesville is in your future, or a state jail at the very least (which is really just a prison for people with sentences of 2 years or less). If that's the case, forget about staying out of prison. Your new goal is to get off the hoe squad and get a better prison job than that. The good news is that they do have substance abuse programs in prison, and you'll probably be required to attend one in order to be eligible for parole. Work it, and it just might make a difference in your life.
