Answer:
Ok first semantics 101: in most cases the term "home schooled" legally means educated independently of any school public or private, including distance programs. Your parents would keep transcripts and issue your diploma. However, in some states there is no definition of the term, as all home hooked students must register as a private school. Or in other places an umbrella school is required. In a strict sense no one ought to use the word homeschooled in those states, and certainly no one have ownership over the word. For practical purposes, many people use it to mean educated at home, regardless of method. So what does this mean to you? It means that you often won't get a good answer, even the person knows you mean a distance school and they have some ideas, because correcting you is the goal. It's about ownership of the word and "you're not one of us". Not that it isn't true that you wouldn't be an independent home schooled student. Just that that type of answer doesn't give you answers. It's only about the needs of the person correcting you. So you want to finish high school at home but your parents wouldnt be overseeing your education ? Here are a few ideas that might suit your needs and answer your question: check with your local school district and see if they offer independent study. You would meet with a teacher once a week and do your work at home. You would be a pupil of the public schools working at home. You could google online schools and the name of your state. Some states don't offer public options. You could enroll in a private distance education program. But buyer beware. Some are scams. You're doing to need to do some research on your own. There are different opportunities depending on your state.

Most homeschool programs don't offer diplomas; only an education. A diploma is a pretty certificate to hang on the wall, by the way. Parents can order one the same way schools order them from the printer. I don't think homeschooling is what you're looking for; I don't think it is what you think it is.
