What Steps Do I Need To Take To Become An Actress?

What steps do I need to take to become an actress?

  • I would like to go to an audition to see if I have what it takes to become an actress on a show or movie or something. I know my chances are slim, but I was wondering, what steps I would need to take to be able to go to an audition. Do I need an agent before then? How do I find one? Most of the stuff out there are scams. My best friend did something online and they made her go to a $2,000.00 acting class before she could audition and they ended up never calling her. So, my question is just, what do I have to do to be able to go to an audition.? ~Thanks (:

  • Answer:

First go to a local drama club- you will find out there if you enjoy it or not! Do some shows with them, ask for feedback from your teachers so you can improve etc. Then I would recommend going to drama school- 3 years of solid drama training. It will give you the strength, technique and grounding you need as an actor. In your 3rd year you'll go into rep and do showcases to casting directors and agents. Hopefully, by the end of your showcases you'll have an agent. From then you'll start doing small jobs hopefully, like commercials, student films, tie plays etc as you get more and more experience you'll get better jobs hopefully! Good luck, never be afraid of failure :)
