Famous acting - is it possible?

• Hi, ive recently realised i have a passion for acting, im 17 I haven't really acted before but Im taking this very seriously, I would like to get into movie acting ect. and would like to attend acting school ect. but I also realised that non-famous actors don't make much money, so my questions are. How does one become noticed, Do you need looks to become a famous actor and is it possible for someone like me to become a famous actor ( I say famous not because I want the fame but because I would like to make a bit of money as well as acting) for the people saying ill give up if it is possible I will stick to it. People like Shia labeouf have inspired me but how can he just get right into Disney without acting and do most young stars have famous connections?

  Well.. where can I start?! Firstly can I point out that acting is in no way easy and I hate to break it to you, but the chances of you becoming rich and famous through acting is very, very, very slim! If it's money and fame you're looking for I'd give up now and get a stable job! Now, the first thing I'd recommend is to join NYT and do some of their projects. From the age of 18 you can apply to do a BA course at Drama School (It normally takes people 3-5 years to get a place at one of the drama schools- it's tough!) I'd recommend going to RADA, LAMDA, Bristol Old Vic, Guildhall and top places like that. In your last year there you'll go into rep and do showcases. Casting Directors and Agents will be invited to these showcases (generally the better the school the more agents will attend) Not everyone will get an agent, but the chances are pretty high if your at RADA or LAMDA. From there onwards you will hopefully start doing small tv jobs like commercials and student films and off westend, fringe and tie theatre jobs. Actors should be aiming to reach places like the Almeida Theatre, National Theatre etc not films- they should be a bonus! Good luck :)
