How do i get my speakers to put out more sound?

I have nice speakers in my car but they don't sound very good. How do I make them sound better?

  • Alright, I got my dad really excited about putting a new sound system in my 2000 Celica. He spent roughly $800 on the hardware and it is quality stuff. Here's a list of it if that at all helps: (2) JL 12" w3v4 subs ($200 got from my gf's brother used with a box. great speakers, amazing price) (1) Kenwood 2 Channel 1000W Max amp KAC-7205 -stereo/bridgeable- ($115 on ebay) (1) 2500 WATT 4GA Car Amplifier Installation Amp Kit/Wire & butt connectors ($25 amazon) (pair) Kenwood Kfc-P709Ps 6.5-Inch Performance Series Component Speaker System plus (pair) Kenwood Kfc-1693Ps 6.5-Inch Performance Series Speaker System ($120 amazon) (1) Kenwood DDX318 6.1 Double Din DVD Receiver ($300) I'm 16 and just starting to get into this crazy car audio stuff and I don't know much about it and neither does my dad. When I asked him, he said that the subs were hooked up to the amp and the speakers were hooked up to the receiver. The bass sounds really nice and I can have it super loud or pretty quiet but no matter what the speakers don't sound all that good and I know they have more potential. I asked my gf's bro about it and he said I should get another 4-channel amp...will this put more power through my speakers and make it sound better? Also, my receiver has the ability to change the hertz for low, mid, and high? No clue what that means and I looked online and its a little difficult to understand. Last and least, when I bump the bass my trunk vibrates like crazy and makes this stupid rattling sound. Any ideas on how to get rid of that? I'm trying to learn this stuff for the future please help me out!

-Lol... **** That Other Guy That Answered This Question... Lmmfao... That Dude You mentioned Is Right... You Should Get Anuther Amp To Help Out The Mids & tweets... Your Speakers, not The Subs, But The Mids & tweets Are Just Getting Power From The Head Unit, And Sounds Like they need More Power To Perform better... As For the rattling in your trunk, You Should get Some Weather Stripping And Make A tighter Seal Around The Trunk, And Put Rubber Washers Around The Bolts Connecting To your License Plates To Stop Them From Rattling Too... Also You need To Tune Your Head Unit For The Correct Sound... You Dont Wanna Blow Anything Out, Just Try To keep Away From Bass Boosters or Other Bass Enhancement Devices... Good Luck Thow...

Other answers

20% equipment and 80% install. As far as rattling, use sound deadener like dynamat. Have someone help you set the gains and other settings on the amp and head unit. This guy is stupid if he thinks throwing more power at the speakers will make them sound better. It may even make the problem worse.
