How to remove Chrome from Mac?

Removing "This Page has insecure content" (Google Chrome) after downloading Graboidvideo?

  • I downloaded Graboid video to try to watch a TV show. What first tipped me off is that secure sites such as my school course site, which usually have a locked symbol next to the http address, had a symbol of a lock with it crossed. Indicating "However, this page includes other resources which are not secure. These resources can be viewed by others while in transit, and can be modified by an attacker to change the behavior of the page." I got worried about the program and then looked it up and saw that some people were claiming it was a virus while others said it worked fine. I wanted to remove the program so I looked it up and people were saying to drag the graboid program into the trash and empty the trash. After I did that, the issue with the browser still occurred. I am using a Mac OS X 10.6.8 and primarily use Google Chrome. I was wondering 1.How to remove this problem from my browser 2.If you have had personal experience or someone you know has had experience did you get a virus/problem from this program? 3. What exactly is the virus that is associated with Graboid video and what does it do. Could it have access my personal data like passwords, etc. 4. Did I truly get rid of this program, if so is my computer safe after uninstalling the program

  • Answer:

The browser (Chrome) is displaying assets not only from the 1st party (Graboid), but also from 3rd party(s) which are not done using SSL (i.e. 'secure'). 1st party is secure; but 3rd party is not. Not a major problem normally, but 3rd party stuff is usually advertising, which can be tainted or malicious. See if these tweaks help: CHROME> wrench icon> Preferences> Under the hood> Content settings> Cookies (heading): tick "Allow local data..." & "Ignore exceptions and block 3rd party..."> close tab. Add-on's for Chrome: (Here's how to get to the add-on's for Chrome: Upper right 'wrench' icon> Tools> Extensions> (near bottom left) "Get more extensions". This will take you to the 'store'.) Make sure to get this extension first, so that your connection to Google servers will be 'secure' meaning your data exchanges are not tampered with and not being re-directed to some fake Google site: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/flcpelgcagfhfoegekianiofphddckof After install, you can have more confidence that you are getting the genuine Google add-on's. AdBlock Plus (needs 'subscription' added after install). https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search?q=ad+block "KB SSL Enforcer" add-on: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/flcpelgcagfhfoegekianiofphddckof ►►"ScriptNo" stops all kinds of nasties and should be used by everyone. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/ScriptNo Can't help with the Graboid issues; I don't use it.
