I am having a dinner for my mom's birthday?
-
It is her 60th Birthday party, and because of expenses this year, it is going to be a dinner for the daily instead of a big shindig I was hoping for. Anyway, there is about 15 of us who will be eating dinner. I've made meals for all of us before, but mostly holiday dinners...Thanksgiving, Easter...I don't want to make a ham or turkey for my mom's birthday dinner. My mom won't give me any suggestions on what she wants to eat..she said surprise her. So I came here for some suggestions on what to make for dinner, along with sides. Otherwise, McDonalds will be busy that day! But like I said, there is 15 people, very much meat eaters, except my one cousin. We also like side dishes, preferably not meat dishes. For the most part all of us will eat a wide variety of foods, but I don't to go to far out of the box for a large meal and not have anyone like it. I guess I would like to keep the meal more traditional...it will be a sit down dinner.

A casserole type dish is always easier for a large group. Somethink like lasagne, baked ziti, enchilada casserole, or cheesy potatoes and ham. For an italian dish, some good ol' cheesy garlic bread and a salad make good sides. For mexican, some mexican style rice and refried black beans. Another good oen would be a large batch of meatballs or procupine balls in brown gravy with rice and stir fried green beans flavored with garlic, salt and pepper. Or mix a large bowl of meatloaf and form a bunch of individual sized loaves on one large baking sheet. Good sides for meatloaf are mashed taters or mac & cheese and a green veggie, like asparagus or cheesy broccoli.

Babies. You can make exquisite meals as well as side dishes with them. For example, you could take the brains, and use them like you would ground beef; to make tacos, or something of that sort. For a side dish, you could remove the fingers and make a modified "pigs in blankets" sort of snack. The blankets of course, being made of butt cheek skin. nice and chunky.
