About how much will it cost to throw a party?

  • My parents anniversary is coming up and I had an idea of throwing them a surprise party since its a big anniversary. my family is pretty big over 35 people and i did want to add some of their friends in if it doesnt cost to much food wise. About how much will it cost to throw a party? this is my first time actually throwing a party myself. i am having some help from a sibling so we will split the cost of everything. Of course getting a cake (may make it myself if its easier) what are some cheaper foods to get? i woudl go with tell everyone to bring something but that is asking a lot and some may forget so I figured we would do it on our own. between beer soda, wine food dessert i was curious about how much it would run to throw a party for 35-45 people..thanks!
