Is there a way to connect to cable tv through my pc?

TV sound through PC speakers?

  • Hi, I'm building a home theatre pc and have an issue with sound connections ... I have a Samsung 51 inch 3d plasma tv and a fast new pc with a creative x-fi xtremegamer sound card. Currently the pc is connected to the tv by HDMI (for video) and the sound from the tv is coming back through the sound card by the tv's 'audio out' jack and a 3.5mm stereo cable which plugs into the soundcards line in jack. You see, the TV's speakers are crap and i want the tv to run through my soundcard and pc speakers. Soundcard + speaker specs: Speakers: Logitech x-530 - 5.1 surround. Soundcard: Speaker and Headphone connections for stereo to 7.1 (Line Out via three 3.5mm mini jacks, green, orange, black) Line In / Microphone In / Optical Out (shared 3.5mm FlexiJack) Auxiliary Line level Input (via 4-pin Molex connector) Intel HD Audio Compatible Front Panel Header (2x5pin) tv specs ~ Input & Output • Audio Out (Mini Jack) • Component In (Y / Pb / Pr) x 2 • Composite In (AV) x 1 (Common Use for Component Y) • Digital Audio Out (Optical) x 1 (Side) • DVI Audio In (Mini Jack) x 1 (Common Use for PC Audio) • HDMI x 4 • PC Audio In (Mini Jack) • PC In (D-sub) • USB x 2 What is the best way to connect sound from my tv to my pc? Thanks :)

  • Answer:

Not sure if you can. Unless it's like mine where it has a switch for internal speakers or external speakers.
