What is a digital audio cable?
-
My panasonic tv has a digital audio out jack. I want to use that jack to run sound to my audio reciever, that way i can have max volume when watching a tv program. The sound will go thru my Bose speakers instead of the tv small speakers. So the question is will this work? I also understand that my reciever must have a digital audio in jack. Is that true?

Answer:
Digital audio comes in two basic flavors. Coax and fiber optic. They both work the same using different technology. If your receiver has a digital audio IN port it must match the digital audio OUT port on the TV. True? Yep.

Sounds like an optical output which most newer HDTV's have. If your receiver has an optical input then you can connect them using an optical cable
