Absolutely NO ONE on this fourm can answer your question as asked. There is insufficient information. Secondly, there is no such thing as a "192.168.1.1 password". Remember that 192.168.1.1 is a nonrouteable IP address on the private side of a router that was configured to use the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet. Since you are getting a log on screen when you enter this IP address in a web browser it is highly likely your subnet is 192.168.1.0/24. Oftentimes, but not always, when you use the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet, you reserve the specific IP address 192.168.1.1 for a router or a server. I suspect you have a peer - to - peer network and therefore no server. First determine your IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. Open command prompt (start - all programs - accessories - command prompt). At the > prompt type in ipconfig and hit enter. You should see the IP address of your pc, subnet mask, and default gateway IP address. I suspect you will see 192.168.1.n (n can range from 2 - 254) as IP address, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (24 bit), and default gateway as 192.168.1.1. It is very likely this is your router. The router is accessed via a user name and password to keep unauthorized people out. It makes no difference what the operating system of the pc used to access the router IP address is (Win 2000 vs XP vs Win Vista vs Win 7). You should see the manufacturer name of the device if you access via XP; however Win 7 appears to provide the log in screen first and no further details. I suggest you first go to your router (assuming 192.168.1.1 is your default gateway), note its brand, make, model, and related information. Next go to the website of the manufacturer and look up the specific unit's default user name and password. It may well be something other than what you assume it is. Try this first and see if it works. If the default does not work, it is because the person who configured the device changed password from default - as he should do. Never should you keep the factory default password as the unit's password. If you are kept out by a password, you need to check with the system admin to gain access. I have a funny feeling that in your case the system admin may be your parents and you want to override some block they put in. If so, do not try an end run; you will be discovered and this is not prudent anyway.
