Why is server sometimes down?

Why am I losing the connection when I try to log into a Menecraft server?

  • I am trying to run a minecraft server (with minecraft_server.exe on windows 7) when I run the server, it's fine, but when I try to log in (localhost or my IP) it says I lose the connection. [INFO] Starting minecraft server version 1.2.5 [INFO] Loading properties [INFO] Starting Minecraft server on *:25565 [INFO] Preparing level "world" [INFO] Default game type: 0 [INFO] Preparing start region for level 0 [INFO] Done (1.067s)! For help, type "help" or "?" (after I try to log into the server or it is refreshed in the server list) [INFO] /192.168.1.6:51521 lost connection I have forwarded the port 25565 (the minecraft port) and have tried this multiple times. I also get the same result when trying to use Hamachi. I am trying to run a public server. Could anyone tell me how to fix this? Any help would be very appreciated!

  • Answer:

I never used to be able to run my local host minecraft server with my brother between 2 computers, here's how I fixed it. 1. Go into the server notepad file in the minecaft_server.exe. It should have things like Allow flight=false and stuff. 2. Look down until you find online checking or online mode=true backspace that and change it to false, this will allow an unregistered minecraft account to log on, (note only one unregistered/offline mode account can be logged on at one time) 3. Save it and try to run again Hope it worked :) I was So frustrated when my minecraft server wouldn't work, took me 3 years before I finally got it to work,
