How do you hook up a desktop to your flat screen TV?

How do i hook up my computer to my tv?

  • I punched my computer on accident. Don't ask how or why. But the screen is ruined. I have a laptop and I know some people either hook up their laptops to a monitor for a desktop or to their tvs. I used to hook mine up to the tv via hdmi cable, but since the screen is demolished wouldn't I be seeing the pulsating plasma look on the tv as I do on my computer screen if its hooked up via hdmi cable? What can I do so I can atleast see my desktop screen, long enough to save my stuff onto my ext harddrive?

    Press the key combo on the laptop to send the picture to the TV.

Try plugging it into the TV via HDMI or VGA cables, If you get a picture then you're fine. This should work. If this does not work try plugging another computer into the broken one via a usb cable (A cable with a USB on BOTH ends and it should allow you to transfer files across as you are using the working screen to see what's going on :)

Look behind pc to check if it has HDMI or VGA port Does the TV have either of these? Yes? - Get the correct cable No? - Your out of luck buy a new TV or Screen and turn to the correct channel
