How to become a graphic designer?

How do you become a Graphic Designer?

• I want to know how do you become a graphic designer? What studies, or courses, you have to take up and what softwares should you learn in order to become a graphic designer? Also is it in yourself the skills? Or can you become one with doing a course? Also do you have to take up Undergraduate studies to become a graphic designer or you do some sort of short course? I will be a freshman in September, and I'm planning to take up Computer Sciences. 1. Does taking up computer sciences in Undergraduate make you a graphic designer? 2. Does the studies Program of Computer sciences has courses that make you a graphic designer? 3. Does the studies program of computer sciences has courses that help you or support you in becoming a graphic designer?

  Freshman in what ? Highschool? I'd start with Photoshop if I were you. Its easy to self teach yourself on, there are a crap ton of tutorials on the web for it and above all its fun. Is computer science helpful? that's an opinionated question and I'd have to say, no. really it has nothing to do with graphics design. computer sciences is more about the computer internally, how it works and how to build one ect ect, doesnt really have a whole lot to do with Graphics design. I started Graphics design when i was about 16 or 17, im 21 now. All I can say is. Figure out how to do it yourself.(I know that may sound like a Crappy response) but Ive taken Graphic design coarses my school offered and they are pointless. A waste of time but an easy credit. It'd be easier for your to teach yourself. AND REMEMBER!!!! ---> THERE IS NO ONE WAY TO DO THINGS AS A GRAPHICS DESIGNER!!! Dont let people try to tell you this!!! what was it i was told? ... "There are just as many ways to complete a art piece as there are artist" I found this to be excruciatingly true as time went by. Graphics designing is really just about knowing yourself and knowing what methods and approaches work better for you. its a self exploration sort of thing. Get a PC Tablet, they're like 200 dollars and it makes things 50x easier depend on if you're wanting to draw or not.
