Can I record audio from quicktime?

How to record system and microphone audio on a mac with soundflower and quicktime?

• I'm planning on doing a series of gameplay commentaries (Let's plays) and am on a mac. I don't have much of any money right now so I looked online for free alternatives to those expensive screencasters for macs like ishowu or screenflow. I originally tried to record using quicktime but it only captured mic audio, not system audio (something fairly important in games). I then found Soundflower that will let me record system audio with quicktime, and after a good amount of attempts and research, I can't figure out how to make it record audio from a microphone with system audio. I can get it to record just the system audio and a video perfectly in one file, but it won't pick up any sound from my external USB mic. I have a snowleopard mac mini, in case that helps anyone help me.
