How do I install flash player on ubuntu 9.10?

How can I install Adobe Flash Player onto Mozilla Firefox while using the operating system Ubuntu?

  • I am trying to install the Flash Player plugin to the web browser, but halfway through the download, it says that it fails. I am also using Ubuntu which may be a problem.

  • Answer:

Ubuntu comes with a repository of software downloads. Its call synaptics. I forget where it is but there is an icon for it in one of the menus. Once you open it you can search for the majority of supported software. So type in flash and it should appear. Then click to download and it should download and install it for you. Is as simple as that. There is also a way to do it through the command promp. it will be something like apt-get flash... You have to look at the proper command online. The best way is to go to google and type in "Ubuntu yourversion flash plugin". have ubuntu version 11.10 so when I look for things I always start my search with "ubuntu 11.10 my_question". Use that format and you will find the answer. They even have tutorials and videos on youtube about it.

When you install the "ubuntu-restricted-extras" package, Flash and it's plugins will install automatically, along with a number of other commonly used codecs like mp3 support.
