What is the best HD/TV media player for playing all MKV files/codecs?

I was looking at purchasing a good HD/TV media player for my external HD that will support most video formats. I have been reading reviews on the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex TV/HD media player and the Western Digital media player and both seem to have problems playing mkv files. Any suggestions are appreciated.

You must have VLC Media Player it helps to run any video codec. MKV will work smoothly just try it.It may take several munutes to building font cache due to first time use but it will work perfectly for MKV, flv, avi etc. Formats.
