What are pros and cons of rooting an android phone?

• i have a huawei mercury and i want to root my phone but idk all about rooting so i need some help.

  Pros: You can overclock your phone using apps like rom toolbox, this app also allows you to change your phone's boot animation, font, notification bar icons etc. You can install a unofficial firmware updates on to your phone from the likes of cyanogenmod. Once that is done, you can access apps that you couldn't before. cons: You might brick your phone. (Part or all the phone doesn't work. Usually it's all the phone.) Your warranty becomes nothing. I do not recommend rooting a expensive new phone. You could mess it up big time.
