What TV should I buy that matches my preferences?

  • I am moving and was looking for a new TV to put in my new bedroom. I am completely new to TV buying, and from a new TV shopper perspective this is VERY overwhelming and EXTREMELY confusing. Here are my TV preferences: Cost: Less than $500 (I am on a college budget) TV type: LCD (LED would be applicable) Screen Type: Glossy/glass (NOT Matte.) screen size: 32"-42" TV resolution: 1080p is desired, but 720p will work. Internet, 3D, Smart TV, etc: No. Hz (refresh rate): I don't care what the Hz is, as long as it isn't blurry during fast moving scenes. Brands: Reliable brands, no knock off or unheard of names. (I've heard LG, Samsung, and Vizio are great.) Speakers: Not worried about sound, i'll most likely add a sound system. I will be using this TV mostly for gaming, and maybe watching some movies. Any suggestions or recommendation on brands, features, and other specs that will help me pick out that perfect TV will be great!

  • Answer:

if you have your heart set on an lcd then ignore this, but a plasma isn't a bad idea if you're going to be gaming. the refresh rate and colors are better overall. i know there's a 43" samsung plasma that's 720p but 600hz, pn43e450. i know it's a little big and not lcd, but just something to consider there's also a 37" lcd lg that is 1080p & 60hz. model 37cs560 both are good tvs and good brands in your price range
