Will top universities accept me to their Graduate Program?

Who knows which colleges/universities, institutes and licenses the military recognizes for commissioning?

  • Was thinking about getting my BSN, becoming state licensed and joining the navy nursing corps but I am not sure which school to do the program at and the nearest officer recruiter to me isn't answering his phone. There are 2 Universities nearby and their program is really competitive, there is ITT Tech that is willing to accept me (which I wanna stay away from because they are not accredited by SACS) and there there is ECPI-MCI which actually is accredited by SACS. Thing is ECPI-MCI lets students get their associates in nursing in like 14 months and then there bachelors in nursing in 12 months. So in total you would be getting a BSN in Under 2 years, but at other colleges the minimum time is 3 years. Would the military look down on that although the institute is accredited or is a degree a degree in their eyes and they don't care how fast student got it? So how does the military decide who to take? Would the they take someone with a BSN from ECPI-MCI who is state licensed as a nurse or would they rather take someone from a college like VSU who went there for 4 years and is also state licensed? Both schools are accredited by SACS so I guess they meet the same standards, other colleges also accept credited from ECPI as well so I dont think its a rip off like ITT. No colleges here even recognize ITT and don't take credits from them so I highly doubt the military would commission an ITT grad either. But should it be safe for me to attend ECPI based on their accreditation Also if someone got a BSN from Uni of phonix and is a licensed nurse would the military accept them based on their license or would they overlook the state license and frown upon the university they got the BSN from Thanks, just trying to figure out how all this works before I choose a school. Also trying to figure out why NCLEX accepts students from any nursing program and license them but the military wouldn't even look at some nurses if they came from a 'for profit' school

  • Answer:

There is no way, unless they had been through the specific schools you're talking about, then followed the exact path you want, for anyone on this forum to answer your questions accurately. There may be lots of answers, but there is only one way to get correct, up to date information: Call a Navy Officer Recruiter. Go to http://www.navy.com/navy/locator/ enter your zip code....then call the appropriate number. Good luck
