What does it take to work for unicef?

Work Comp. question? can someone tell me what steps to take further?

  • My mom has been a certified nursing assistant (CNA) for 20+ years now. For those of you who know it is a pretty demanding job, and requires a lot of physical strength. Now that she is almost close to fifty she injured herself twice in each shoulder. The right shoulder she had to get surgery b/c she tore her rotator cup and she that all through work comp. She even had physical therapy for it. Now recently in october she injured her left shoulder and her case went through work comp. She was hoping to get permanent light duty at the nursing home however the doctor told her she can go back to full time duty bc they found nothing wrong with the shoulder through MRI or functional capacity tests. However my mom has pain in her shoulders and the doctor said it's not due to the shoulder but it may be the muscle and it's chronic (meaning life time pain). He recommended her to see a phsyiatrist. He also mentioned that work comp. might not pay for that. She still has chronic pain and the doctor sends her back to work does not make sense. In the MRI it shows she has inflammation of the muscle or tendon so why is he sending her back to being a CNA. My mom was on light duty the whole time and was hoping to stay on it. She can not handle being a CNA anymore b/c she has to lift 400 lbs patients. SO the doc. told her to change her career. It is easy for him to say b/c hes a c doctor but my mom has been doing this for almost thirty years now and it is hard for to just change. We have a lawyer but he isn't doing much. Does anyone know what steps to take further? We are trying to get my mom on light duty and her workplace should find it for bc she has been working with them for 15yrs. Or should we apply for disability? If she is going to have to find another job then the work place should find one for her.

  • Answer:

Maybe she should retire, I mean her job seems very physically demanding...
