How to split column text to another column?

How do I do conditional formatting of text in a column based on a value in a different column in Excel 2010?

  • In column "C" I have a list of names (text). In column "BA" I have values related to the names in column "C". I want to turn the name (text) in column "C" red if the value in column "BA" is 1. I want this to apply to the entire spreadsheet. I'm not having luck. This is Excel 2010.

  • Answer:

Highlight all the cells in column C that you wish to conditionally format. This example uses C1 as the first cell to format. Go to the HOME tab and click 'Conditional Formatting' in the Styles group. Select 'New Rule'. In the 'Select a rule type' section, click 'Use a formula to determine which cells to format'. In the 'Format values where this formula is true' textbox enter the formula: =AND(C1<>"",BA1=1) Click 'Format' and select the Fill tab. Click the color Red and click 'OK' twice.
