What are the jobs with Microbiology Major Degree?

Bachelor's Degree Microbiology vs. Certificate?

• I've been searching online and I have come to the conclusion that most of the jobs that you can get with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Immunology is working as a laboratory technician/research assistant. If this is true, then wouldn't it make more sense to go to a technical school and do 1-2 years of Medical Laboratory Technology course? It would be much cheaper and take less years to complete. For me right now it seems to make more sense to get the certificate which will only take 1-2 years and won't cost me 20k, but my family insists on having a university degree. I feel like I'm wasting my time in university for 4 years when I could be done and working by next year. So my question is, what is the difference. Will it be better to go for the bachelor's degree in microbiology or the certificate in Medical Laboratory Tech? Will I make more money if I have a bachelor's degree as opposed to the person working at the same place with a certificate? Are there any other specific health jobs other than medical lab tech that I can get with a bachelor's degree in microbiology?

  Definitely do the university degree BECAUSE after your undergrad you can go into a professional school like medicine,dentistry,pharmacy,optometry, physical therapy,physician assistant,chiropractor,etc. or you can get a masters in a related field like Health administration/policy,etc. You have many many more options and if you are successful can make very good money.
