What are some cool jobs out there?

What are cool math-related jobs?

  • I don't want to be one of those people who say "when are we ever going to use this?" in math class. I'm good at math, and i could easily major in it if i wanted to. The problem is i dont really know any cool math related jobs. I don't just want to be an accountant. (literally one of the only jobs i know that involve math.) I want to be able to do something fun and productive with myself if i do choose a math major. So my question is, are there any cool math-related jobs? (it would also be nice if they paid well. :p) Thanks.

The NSA has a lot of math-related jobs in national security. That would be pretty cool. If you're still in high school, look into applying for the Stokes scholarship when you get to college - they'll help you pay for college and you get to work for the NSA during your summers.

If you're smart, enjoy math, and truly want to make a living from solving math equations, I'd look into the different engineering jobs. Engineers get paid well too. This should help: http://www.math.ucdavis.edu/~kouba/MathJobs.html
