What are considered the best universities UK?

  • Other than Oxford and Cambridge, what are the best universities, because there is no way I could get into those. I'm roughly predicted 3A's and 2B's and would like to study anything to so with Maths or Chemistry

    I did Chemistry at Durham. It's not Russell Group, but it's consistently in the top half dozen for Chemistry. I can fully recommend it. Heriot What? Must be joking! I chose that as my "get hit by a bus" option - e.g. I would have only gone there if I'd been incapacitated and unable to do any A-levels!

Excluding oxbridge, if you want to study maths, top universities are St. Andrews (in Scotland) and Warwick (in England). If you want to study chemistry, the top universities are Heriot- Watt (in Scotland) and Queen's (in Northern Ireland).

Google The Russell Group. These are the top Unis. My son did a Physics PhD at Leeds, a Msc at Birmingham (not that good) and a BSc at Warwick (excellent.)
