Which is better: College or University?

Which nursing program is better: Elmhurst College or Aurora University?

  • ***Money is not an issue; I have decent scholarships to both. I want to be a nurse and I've narrowed it down to two really good schools for nursing: Elmhurst College and Aurora University, both in Illinois. Let me explain their programs: Aurora University: There's a fast-track to a master's degree. You get your bachelor's degree in 4 years (as is normal) and then get your master's degree in one more year, so 5 total years of study. Elmhurst College: You get your bachelor's degree in 4 years. Then you get your masters over the next three years, working full-time 4 days a week and attending class one day a week. So 7 total years of study. If I go to Aurora University, I can get my masters way faster---but I also will not have a job during those five years at all. Also, they're cramming a master's degree into a very short amount of time (a year), so I don't know about that... If I go to Elmhurst, I can work while I get my masters, so I'll be making money AND my employer will most likely pay for my masters education. However...I'll be in school for 7 years. See my dilemma? I'm torn. They both have great pros and cons. I seriously CANNOT pick! Do you have some input? If you have an opinion on which one is better, please DO give some advice. I desperately need some. Thanks.

HI! you just answered my question and I dk how you did this but the nearby school was Benedictine! I didn't know their pre-med was that good? I'll check it out! As for you, I would definitely go with Elmhurst. Think about it, being a nurse in 5 as opposed to 7 will not really make a difference in the long run. Also with Elmhurst, you are in a clinical setting with mentors who will aid you and help you learn how to be an amazing nurse! WIth Aurora I feel like it would be too rushed and then you don't have a guarenteed job after that as well, so keep that in mind. Ultimately its up to you, but if it were my choice, I'd go with Elmhurst! I hope I helped!
