My chance of admission to UCLA, USC, UCSD, and UCdavis? Please help me?
-
i have extremely bad freshman grades. I averaged a 2.65 GPA freshman year, earning many B and C. I even have a D+ in honors english first semester which I went to summer school for and got an A. But all i got was the credit in summer school because there was only regular english in summer school. My sophmore GPA was a 4.0 and 4.13 GPA respectively. My first semester of junior GPA was 4.5 and probably going to get the same for 2nd semester. Since my high school does not weight our overall GPA, I highey doubt i will get in top 15% for my class because of my freshman GPA. I took every honors/AP classes I could except for 10th grade english, APUSH, 11 AP english, and probably not going to take 12 AP english. My highest SAT score is 2070, but thinking i will get 2150+ before i apply. I have multiple activities: 8 year martial arts, 12 year band, and chapter officers position at my schools DECA club. I want to major in engineering or business. I am looking to go to UCLA, USC, UCSD, and UC davis, respectively from most interest to least. Please be realistic in my chance of getting in, and how to improve my chances, as i have an year ahead of me.

Answer:
those schools are all pretty good ones. what is your major? instead of following the "prestige" of the school, you should follow the rankings of their major department. and who cares if you end up in davis or riverside whatever, undergrad means very little if you plan to go to graduate school. it's about what you do with the opportunities given, so do your best till the end!

You're in luck. You'll get in. They calculate a "UC GPA" based only on certain courses from your sophomore & junior year (and you're way above the typical UC GPA applicant): "What courses are used to determine a student's GPA for admission to UC? If a student took geometry and biology in the ninth grade, does he use those grades in calculating his GPA? In calculating the GPA, the student cannot include courses taken in the freshman year. Only "a-g" courses taken in the sophomore and junior years are used for the preliminary GPA.
