What Is the Highest Type of Accountant?

What type of accountant can do taxes?

  • i want to become an accountant, but i dont know what kind. i want to get more than 36k a year, know how to do my own taxes, and study it for 3 years the most. i'll study whichever at a community college, Chaffey to be exact. Will they help me get a job afterwards as well?

  • Answer:

Community college programs really only lead to becoming a book keeper or an entry level tax preparer. If you want to be a real accountant you need a bachelors degree in it. The real money comes with the bachelors degree and a CPA license. CPA's often times run tax businesses and help with corporate tax work for companies or individuals with lots of money. ANYONE can do their own taxes, its freakin easy. That said, if 36k a year is your goal and you only want to go to school for 3 years max then book keeper or tax preparer should be just fine. Most colleges have some sort of career center than can help you land a job but they aren't going to go out looking for one for you, they just help you with your resume and point you in the right direction.
