Hey Bradley, The first thing to figure out is, what your specific goals are. Your questions suggests multiple goals and paths, some of which do not intersect: -Masters in Fine Arts -Masters in Video Game Design -Career in Video Game Industry I recommend doing more research on this, but Masters degrees in art aren't important unless you want to teach art. If you want to work in games, I know (and have known) hundreds of people working in game studios like Blizzard, Naughty Dog, EA, etc, and none of them have degrees in "video game design". Usually people working on the more creative aspects of game creation (modeling characters and environments, animation, design), have received traditional art training first, and then technical training. Some of this training can come from a traditional degree program, but much of it can usually only come from either a trade school or a lot of personal research and self-teaching with resources on the internet geared toward professional training. It's important to note that there is not an educational standard for the games industry, which means studios don't care where you went to school or what degree you have or don't have- they only care about 1.) your artwork and 2.) if your personality fits their team. The VFX, animation, and games industry are entertainment based industries that exist far outside the academic world, and what I've learned from being an art counselor for over 5 years, is that most students in degree programs for game design, don't end up getting what they need and require further training. If it's really the Masters degree you seek, for a personal reason, that's fine, but just realize that the pathway to a masters will probably not lead you to a job at Blizzard (unless you want to be in the financial or HR department!). Full disclosure: I'm the Director of Admissions at Gnomon School of Visual Effects, which has given me a lot of insight into the VFX and games industries, how people get jobs, and what steps students take to accomplish their goals. My personal goal is to help educate artists who are on their journeys, rather than give them a sales pitch on Gnomon.
