What are my chances of getting into Boston University?

  • Please help, anyone who's been accepted or knows anything about the university?! Ive heard that BU is hard to get into, is that true?? I feel like my gpa is what might be hurting me. I've been taking advanced classes all through out high school, and remained at a steady 88 or 89 average. I know it's not great, but I'm a junior now and I'm an IB student, and my average is around an 89 or 90. I got a 2100 on my SATs and 30 on my ACTs. I have plenty of volunteer hours, since volunteer hours are required for IB. I'm in key club, international club and bio club. How badly do you think my high school gpa will hurt me? What else can I do that'll help me get in? Thanks!

    you have a shot at getting in. your non-GPA components are important to BU. ignore Kyle Busch, he is a major troll on this section. he's given that exact copy and paste answer to 9000 people and then selects himself best answer when no one else answers.

Your chances actually look really good! Your SAT scores put you in the higher range of accepted students' stats and your ACT is right there in the middle! Sure, your GPA could use a little work but if you could choose a challenging but manageable workload next year. Get a couple of IB or AP courses in, and take other honors classes. Remember to choose stuff that you can do well in and show a great senior mid report to prove you belong at BU! Also, at the end of this year or the beginning of this year, run for club officer positions. Be a leader! Apply for positions, even if its junior year! You may not want to run for stuff to get votes on, but some teachers ask students to submit essays on why they would be a good officer and they choose based on those essays. I got one of my main leadership positions through experience, one from an essay, and another from an essay and good recommendations. My other officer positions were from essays and applications as well. You never know what you'll come across and there are great opportunities for you wherever you go so be sure to get involved!!! :) Good luck!
