How can we use our PC as a voice recorder?

How can I save audio recordings from my Digital Voice Recorder with no USB?

  • I own a Sony ICD-BX112 Digital Voice Recorder which works well for recording but will eventually become full. It has no USB and the instruction manual says to simply save the recordings on another recorder, however that seems a bit silly, as it will also become full. My recorder does come with a microphone and headphone jack. Is there a way to transfer my recordings to my PC using these? Basically I would like to know of ANY way to transfer my recordings to anywhere other than my recorder where I can, at a minimum, at least save all of the recordings, and if possible edit them. Is there a device other than a PC that enables one to do this? What has been the experience of others in this situation? What have you discovered to be the best way to save recordings? I suppose in a pinch I could use the microphone on my computer, play the recording, and transfer that way, although that does not sound like a very good option. Thanks for the help.

  • Answer:

If you look at the instruction leaflet, it shows you how to do this in the section Recording on Other Equipment. You need a PC with a line audio input (don't use a microphone input), the appropriate cable and an audio editing program. There is no form of digital transfer possible.
