Have you bought gold bars in Harrods?

• Harrods sells investment gold. They claim to add a £30.00 for every transaction. I have known Harrods is a shop for the rich. But they have written in the website, that its in a competitive price. Have you had any experience of it being a competitive price? Is this expensive than in other bullion merchants in Hatton Garden ?

  Harrod's is a good place to buy clothes with a great food court. It is not an investment firm. If you can afford a 100 ounce bar, then 30 GBP may be competitive. On 1 ounce or less, it is a silly fee for punters. Look into buying ETFs or shares in a gold mining firm. That is a far more effective way to invest in precious metals.
