Which homeowners insurance companies (actually the adjusters) use Xactimate software to find out damage cost?

• I'm creating a proposal for an insurance agencies to cleanup and decontaminate a crawlspace and attic that was vandalized by raccoons. The insulation was contaminated and torn and some of the ducting. Do I have to put the exact measurements and square footage on replacements of insulation and ducting? I was hoping not to. Plus will they drop my total bid price if I say I want to replace 2300sqft of insulation? I was hoping they won't. Does AAA homeowners insurance cover germicidal spray to decontaminate the attic?

  Yes you need to measure the spaces. Many companies want exact measurements. They also want deductions for cut outs. Yes, you will need to show how many LF of duct work you plan to replace. Yes, you will need to show how many sq ft of insulation you plan to replace. If germicidal spray is warrented, yes, it will be covered. Regarding dropping your bid: does 2300 sq ft of insulation need to be replaced or do you just want to replace it all? They only owe what needs to be replaced. If you want the insurance company to give you money, you'll have to show exactly how you came up with your numbers. If you have questions about how to do your scope, call the adjuster and discuss it with them. From your post, I get the impression that you don't do insurance work very often. So better to take the time to speak with the adjuster and learn exactly what they want on the scope and discuss the needed repairs. As far as Xactimate goes - most of the major insurers use it. However, some companies do use Simsol.
