What is your opinion on DMC Devil May Cry and the new Dante design?

  • Okay..first off here is my OPINION; It looks interesting, Ninja Theory who are developing the game who did Heavenly Sword have taken DMC and put their own twist on it. Basically a reboot. Like Batman. Tim Burton's Batman design to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight same guy, same story different design. I like the new Dante design(the punk look) but obviously I don't know his personality yet so original Dante is still my favourite but you have to consider his character Design is of Japanese origin; the long red coat is symbolic as red is a hero's colour in Japan. New Dante wears a black leather jacket with a British patch on probably because the new developers are British, but yet for old DMC fans such as myself (Played all games on release and completed) his devil trigger mode shows the white/blonde hair and red coat. New Dante I think has not been given a chance as no one has played the games and seen character development yet. You can't call him EMO, as I can admit as well as, my games design lecturer who is not a fan of DMC can both see they both have what can be considered emo hairstyles. One has long bangs with a fringe that covers his eye that is white/ blonde (emo's don't all have black hair) the other is shaved and punk styled wit the black fringe covering one eye. They both like rock/metal music and have a rock look to them design of coats, pants and boots. The art style of game-play and level design, weapons etc.. both games feature ebony and ivory plus rebellion which is good. Original DMC games featured a horror movie element to it, it featured spooky gothic castles and towns and enemies some demons of unique design are mainly ghost, grim reapers, puppets of evil jesters and clowns and bosses were thing such as giant demonic spiders; which again was good and had a nice classic horror element to it. The reboot however has an interesting concept, you walk around in the real world but the demons run it.. what we see as a camera is actually a demonic eye and when it finds Dante pulls him in a Parallel universe where the world acts like white blood cells and try to kill Dante. Demons are of unique design both natural enemies and bosses which is new and looks good. I am quite looking forward to the game if Ninja Theory know anything its how to make a combat game which DMC is. Their artistic portrayal of things also is new and attractive. I will not comment on story because so far we know nothing of it apart from Dante is now part demon part angel. but this does not rule out any characters for sequels like Virgil, Trish and Lady....so what do you guys think?

    Hey Sam, my opinion of the new Dante is 100% open minded and positive :) I absolutely loved Heavenly Sword, and Odessy To The West, so i am very much looking forward the the next Ninja Theory game. This is good for another reason...I have only played the first DMC. And honestly it didnt interest my enough to play the others. So with this reboot i am open minded and aware of the fact that it could change my mind and get me to play the others, which a fan of the serious such as yourself would want of a newcomer like me, who has only tried DMC 1 from way back when lol. As for his look, the old Dante did look tough, and badass, where the new one looks a lot younger to me and seems like he has something to prove from the way he was looking at the the camera in the pictures i have seen. Either way i am interested to see how it turns out, and since it is Ninja Theory i'll at least give it a shot. It might very well add a new fan to the series.

I think that designs of NT are j´huge rip-off: another world which invisible is from Bayonetta, E&I are from Darkness 2, black blob and orphanage: Alice, enemies: Mass Effect. As absurd as it sounds some reapers enemies in ME3 are 1 to 1 for new dmc enemies. I don't like new Dante. 1. he doesn'T look like demon hunters. He needs at least some muscles to fight them. 2. his story is another rage story. I actually grown tired of it. 3. After playing as real Dante I felt many positive emotions. This one, I don't think so. 4. theory about angel born, sorry, it's just dumb, I can'T pick another word for it. I hope they won't bring any old characters, they just gonna ruin them. As a conclusion I must say, it looks like medicore hack'n'slash with some punkish additions. It doesn't have spirit of DMC. Remember what Dante said: "you may look like she, but you don't have her fire". I also think that story of abused teen doesn't interests me, like play on Divine Comedy, like original one. I hope Capcom gonna mark it as failed Experiment. PS. I think that first Nolan film was worst Batman of all 5. And second was only saved by Heath Ledger.
