Female classmate and professor accuse me of gender inequality, without basis?
-
Recently I am being accused by one of the female members of my group, the other female member is not raising any accusations, that I am engaging in 'gender inequality' and am not caring about the female input as much as I am with the male input. My professor would not give me concrete examples, my group never talked to me about anything of this sort, and this leaves me quite confused as to why I am being accused of this. I had explained to the professor that I usually come prepared, as outlined in his course syllabus, with the homework ready to discuss at the group meetings. The problem is that the female who is raising this accusation never comes with any work at all, but likes to claim my work as hers and claims credit. I have written these incidents in the peer evaluations, however my professor says he lost them - yet he has all of hers. I have had an issue with this professor when I had him last spring, as he was incredibly rude and would never like to help me out. Professor ratings demonstrate that he is a very intimidating person, and furthermore he even in class says that students claim he is intimidating but in reality he isn't. Well, this semester it drove me to the top when he asked me to go see him at a certain time, and when I arrive he said "Leave my office now! I do not have time for you, leave!". I e-mailed him that I would no longer ask him for help, and that I would start to work independently to master the material. He took that as offensive and yesterday, he told me that I was acting like a child. Anyways, that is a whole different issue. I further stated that the group has infringed on academic dishonesty when they claim my work as theirs but he didn't care. I stated that there are times when that specific female likes to control the group, and often when I speak she gets irritated. I also stated that she felt the need once to talk behind my back about my sexual activity with other females, which makes no sense why that is relevant to the group. He still said that I am behaving like a child. I don't even meet the group anymore, which makes it impossible to be 'putting down the opinions of the women in the group' as my professor stated. I just do the homework and leave it with them when I see them in class as I am incredibly busy in the evenings - especially since my dad is in the hospital due to a horrible accident. I have never had issues with anyone of this sort, and I have gathered 10 other females who were asked to write the positives and negatives about working with me in other courses I have this semester, and they never mentioned that I was unequal toward them. I am wondering what I should do? I have to meet with him on Monday, and I would like to politely ask that he analyze the evidence and draw a conclusion and withdraw some of the comments he has made. The Dean of Student's office recommends this, but I am not sure if this is what I should do? I would like to add that they do talk about my sexual life when I do not attend the group meetings, which is incredibly rude. The male group member had told me.

Answer:
Seems like you're not really suited to working in a group as you haven't quite got the hang of it. The various members of the group contribute to make a group contribution. You cannot be in a group and then childishly continuing to claim the work as your own
