I need a reason to switch high schools? I don't know how to tell my parents? HELP?
-
So I really want to switch high schools. I hate where I'm going right now, I'm a freshman but I feel like I have no close friends. I have become more shy than I was before and barely participate in class. I dread going to school all day. I don't know how to tell my parents WHY I want to switch. I've told them before I wanted to switch, but they said no due to my inability to explain why. how can I gather my thoughts? any other reasons I should switch?

Answer:
Have you tried joining an organization of some sort at school? Examples: - Band - Yearbook - Athletics - Student Government - A club of some sort That is usually the best way to make friends at school. Transferring can cost money... and lots of it... depending where you are. The only legit reasons to transfer would be to say something like, "This high school has better educational opportunities than my current high school." But switching High Schools isn't going to make any difference if you don't go out there and make an effort to get friends or become active in school. The same thing will happen at a new high school if you don't at least try to make friends. And trying to make friends isn't saying hi to people in class.

Bullies, no close friends, don't fit in, not happy, rummors, not as good of a learning experience. Tell them what you said in this question or write what you will say on a piece of paper so you won't have trouble when it comes time to tell them! Hope this helps!:)
Tell the high school teachers and principals if you can switch high school, and tell your parents about the high school (they will understand your feelings and shyness as well as the teachers, and principal and vice principal). Hope it helps!
Why not just tell them what you've told us? You're struggling to fit in and you're finding it really hard, you hate it. You feel that changing schools is an opportunity for a 'fresh start' and that it'll be better for you in the long run.
Find out about some programs at the school that interest you and tell them about them. And tell them that you don't feel you will excel at your current school. Tell them you are very unhappy and think a fresh start is just what you need. A chance to be happy so that you can better concentrate in school. Because I couldn't switch schools, it ended up being the worst 4 years of my life so I hope this helps you.
