Can I enroll both to a community college as well as a technical school?
-
I really want to start off at a technical school this SUMMER. BUT I want to start working towards a degree this FALL at my community college and then transfer to a university after two years. The program I wish to take at the technical college is one-two semesters long, which obviously means I plan to be enrolled at two colleges at one-two point(s). Another thing that poses as a problem is the fact that I'm considering being at the technical college for a few more programs. So all in all, the technical courses I want to take that are all two semesters long are going to place me in careers as follows: 1) Business Manager 2) Computerized Accounting Specialist 3) Financial and Investment Services 4) Payroll Accounting Specialist 5) Telecommunications Specialist This means that I'm looking at about 2.5 years at this technical school. I wanted to go to my community college to get the basic credentials and go forth to the university to earn a BA-MA in Business. In the meantime, I want to start a Business which is the reason for all the courses at the technical school. I do need financial aid which was the biggest concern here because if i don't get it, I'm doomed. HELP HELP HELP PLEEEEEASE!!!

Answer:
You CAN enroll in as many colleges and schools at a single time as you wish. However being able to successfully complete their course is next to impossible. First, most technical schools are daytime classes, when most community college classes are held. Scheduling would be very very tricky. Try looking up their 'course schedules' and see if you can piece together a workable schedule for them both. Second, the cost will be much higher, and if you are not planning on paying for this upfront yourself, loans/grants etc. are limited to one career plan. Try reading the Sunday employment section of a local or nearby larger city paper to see which jobs have the best openings in your area, or where you hope to settle. Look for skills and degrees that are expected as a new hire. That might help you decide on a direction. Finally, get some help at a community college 'careers' office or general testing. They can test you for skills and interest, aptitude and abilities that best fit you. Then your profile will be projected into a list of careers you have the best chance of liking and doing well at.
