Is anyone in the Medical Billing and Coding field?

What is a good online school for Medical Billing and Coding/Health Care Management?

  • I would like to know which is a very good online school to attend for Medical Billing and Coding, which is also referred to sometimes as Healthcare Management. I will be in need of financial aid and from what I understand, in order to obtain a career after my degree, the school needs to be CAHIIM accredited (Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management) and the course itself Ahima accredited (American Health Information Management Association). Having accreditation by North Central Association is a plus. I plan on pursuing an Associates Degree to start in this field. If anyone can help, I would appreciated it. Ive done some research and do not plan on attending DeVry, University of Phoenix or Everest College due to negative reviews Ive seen, so any other school suggestions would be great. I do have 2 schools in mind, Rasmussen and Herzing, so if you have any opinions on those schools, please share.

    All those schools you mentioned are all scamming, 'for profit' schools. And Medical Coding and Billing has become such a flooded market and the jobs really are not there unless you see online or in the newspapers hundreds of job listings for that field. If you really insist on going into a field that is already flooded, try your local community college. More and more of them are offering that kind of training lately and it's so much easier to get Pell Grants and student loans for it.

I was going to say University of Phoenix but since you don't like that one, I would go with Rasmussen. I haven't heard the other one, so that is my personal choice. I would in the medical field and have for many years. The schooling is not easy and you have a lot to learn especially with all the new changes in the medical care field. I'm not familiar with Rasmussen or Herzing so make sure they're accredited. This way you know your degree is considered legitimate.
