What DSLR camera (that also takes videos) is the best?
-
Hello! I will have photography lessons next year and DSLR cameras are required (we can buy point and shoot but we need to cope up with the quality & etc, so I think it's best to just buy a DSLR) I am having problems in choosing the right brand and model. I was about to choose the Canon 1000D since it's the cheapest Canon DSLR. But I saw that it doesn't take videos :( Can you guys help me out? What DSLR camera has a reasonable price and takes good photos and videos? I will start saving up my money for this. I hope I'll find a good camera!

Answer:
The Canon 1000D has been replaced by the 1100D - and that does take video The Nikon D3100 is also worth a look.

If you must have a single camera that takes good video, secondary to taking great still photo's then you may want to consider Sony's SLT-A57, SLT-A65, or SLT-A77. Sony's current generation of SLT's take far better video than any of the current generation from the competition (though Nikon's D3200 is likely to go head to head with the SLT-A57 when it launches). *For once going to have to disagree with fotoace: As things stand Sony's SLT-A77 outperforms even the Full-frame Nikon D4 & Nikon D800 (perhaps one of the reasons the A800 Sony's twin of Nikon's D800 has so far failed to see the light of day).

I dont think there is something like "best DSLR" it all depends on what you would be using camera to shoot at. For video at a more affordable range Sony SLTs mights be the best even though strictly speaking its not a DSLR but DSLT.

That's true. I own a 1000D and it's an excellent camera but you're correct, no video. It's also true that the 1100D does video but only at 720 HD. I'm currently also shooting a 500D which does 1080 HD video, and does a very nice job of it. I don't know what your price range is but I, being a Canon owner and knowing the quality of these cameras, highly recommend them. Good Luck

Best dSLR with video? Canon 1DX Canon 5DIII Both have "full frame" sensors, so the image quality is far superior to the smaller sensor cameras. Unfortunately, they are probably both beyond your budget and once you get either of them, you need to spend a fortune on lenses or the images will really show up the weaknesses in the lenses.

The "Best" dSLR that also shoots video, would be the new Nikon D800 or Nikon D4. Both shoot in uncompressed video. No other dSLR can do that yet. Your problem is that your budget seems to be in the under $1,000 range, so that leaves you with one of the entry level dSLR's like the Nikon D5100 or Canon 600D/T3i
