Is it very expensive travelling to NY?

Hello everyone! So I have a question about travelling from Boston to Rochester, NY?

  • At the moment, I'm in Boston. But in a couple of weeks I need to get to Rochester, NY for an event that is happening out there. I am trying to find a ride of course, but what is the cheapest way to get there by public transportation? I don't care much for how long it takes, I just need it to be pretty cheap. Thanks guys. :D

  • Answer:

Dirt cheap is to go via Megabus through NYC. Boston to NYC, then to Rochester. The further ahead you book, the cheaper it gets. Takes about as long that way as Amtrak (which goes via Albany). Amtrak is actually almost the same price, but you only get one train per day in each direction per day. Greyhound is a bit more expensive than Amtrak for that route, but has more departures.

Amtrak is actually expensive - check the schedules for Peter Pan Bus or Greyhound. All the colleges have Peter Pan stops and regular schedules. It's far safer to take a busline than it is to get a ride from a stranger - BE CAREFUL.

Amtrak. Or Greyhound or one of the bargain buses, if there's a route for them. [Not sure any of them go to ROC, but you could look them up on the Internet.]
