What's it like to live in Venice?

Whats it like to live in Helsinki?

  • Hi, Helsinki is in my top ten where to live cities when I graduate, and was wondering what it was like to live  there. I have got a lot of information out of my father who has visited there in the 90's, and said it was a city filled with islands. He even saw a post office on it's own island :) Anyway,  What's it like there now? How often do you see tourists a day, because I love them, so fascinating. How dangerous is it, do I have to own a gun like South Africa, or can I leave my engine running when I go shopping LOL What type of culture do you have? Is it like London, just as much modern culture as old culture? Any other information you'd like to add please do :) Thank You And also I'll be coming from the UK, so I can legally live there because of the EU. Also, if you have been to London or Edinburgh, are there any similarities, thank you :)

You are absolutely correct! Helsinki itself is actually located on a peninsula. The most beautiful archipelago is, however, near Turku which is about two hours away from Helsinki. By the way, do you speak any Finnish? I never actually visited London so I don't know what's the culture like over there. My favorite time of the year is summer, because the city wakes up and people find they're way back on the streets. Visit Suomenlinna or have a picnic at Esplanadi Park! Well, what about tourists? Helsinki is not luckily crammed with tourists like Paris or other more popular European cities, although, you can't avoid them especially in the summertime. One thing that is very important for most of the Finns is sauna. Nothing beats a good steam after a sunny day on a cottage by the lake! Last, but not least: welcome to Finland! :)

I've never lived there, but my sis was born there. I went when I was petit and if it's like what it was when I went there....it sucks! The only thing to see is the water front and a government building....I mean, that's great if that's what you call fun, but to me, it's bland.
